Another large source of emissions comes from the transport we use. We can help our guests reduce their transport emissions during their stay, simply by sharing our local knowledge with them, and it doesn’t cost us anything. If you don’t know the answers ask other hosts, your local hosting community group, local friends and family or our hosting group. Here are some transport options to consider providing information about:

“If you need a taxi you may like to consider booking a Uber Green. This will connect you to an EV or hybrid car.  To find one simply open the app and when booking an Uber scroll down and look for the green leaf symbol or ..”

Public Transport

Let guests know about the public transport options in your area.

Set up

Research the public transport options that guest may take to get to you from an airport, train or bus station. Include details of how to pay for public transport and any discounts or daily caps on fees.

Communicate

Add to your Check-in Letter:

Share details on the different transport routes to get to you with your guests.

“To get to us from the Airport, take the train to Circular Quay, from here transfer to the Manly Ferry, from here transfer to a Bus #162 on stand F and get off at stop New St/Gourlay Ave. To use our public transport you will need an opal card that can be bought at the train station. You can store credit on this and top it up either at the train station or on line once you register this.

Bike Hire

Let guests know if they can access bike hire in your area.

Research what options are available in your area. You may like to ask what ages they rent bikes to and if electric bikes are available.
